The Reconnecting Cambodia project consists of Reconnecting Cambodia (UK), DNACambodia (Netherlands), and KFCO (Cambodia). We are a family tracing service using DNA testing for Cambodian families globally, who have been separated by war, genocide, poverty and adoption. 

Thank for joining our project! Every test taken helps us to achieve our primary goal of reconnecting families by expanding the Khmer DNA pool. The quality of the results relies on the data provided. The more Khmer DNA we can gather from existing but separate databases, the better the chances for others who are searching and have tested to find their close family members.  

By ticking the consent box on the online google form, you agree to the terms outlined below:

• We own and manage your test and its results within the project. You will be notified when the results are ready and be invited by a link to view your unique DNA profile. We will guide you through the results and any close relative matches you receive. Anyone wanting to contact you will do so through us.

• We will continue to manage your test and results in the future. Your DNA profile is uniquely yours and belongs to you. You can opt out of the project by written request at any time by contacting us at info@reconnectingcambodia.org.

• You provide us with as much family information as is known to complete a family tree. To include names of parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles, the children of all of the above. Include birth year if known, and birth village/province. We need to be able to contact you, so we need a current email, phone number or Facebook page at all times. 

• We will upload your DNA results to other commercial DNA company databases, so more matches can be found.

You also understand that: 

• Your saliva sample will be converted to what is known as a RAW DNA data file.

• Your DNA results will be compared to all other tests in the database and compared for family matches. They will be categorized as close, intermediate, and distant. 

• Your DNA results will be analyzed for Ancestral Origins and Ethnicity. This information varies greatly in accuracy and is just informational.
